CATEGORIES OF THE MEMBERS
The library users shall be defined into following categories:
- Faculty:
- Fellows and Research scholars:
- Junior Research Assistants, Senior Research Assistant and students on
the roll of the university:
- Officers of the University:
- Others employees of the University:
PRIVILEGES OF THE MEMBERS
The users of the library will be entitled to borrow library material according to the
privileges/entitlements defined below:
(A) Faculty:
15 books for a period of one semester*
(B)Fellows and Research scholars:
6 books for a period of one month
(C)Junior Research Assistants, Senior Research Assistant and students on the roll of the
university:
5 books for a period of two weeks 2 books for PGD students
(D) Officers of the University:
4 books for a period of two weeks with the permission of the Chairman/Head of the
department /section concerned.
(E) Others employees of the University:
2 books for a period of two weeks with the permission of the Chairman/Head of the
department /section concerned.
GENERAL RULES:

Monday to Thursday, the working hours for Library will be (08:00am
- 09:00pm).

Friday, the working hours for Library will be (08:00am - 05:00pm).
From 01.00 pm to 02:00 pm, the service counters will remain closed for “Jumma
Prayer”.

The library shall remain closed on Saturday & Sundays and on
gazetted holidays.

The timings of the library during the holy month of Ramazan and
summer vacations will be as per the official announcement.

The library shall be closed during August for 15 days for stock taking. All
borrowers shall return the books for the purpose at a weeks notice and issue of
books shall remain suspended during the period.

Members of the library shall deposit their umbrella, sticks, bags, combustible
material and other articles in the cloak room provided for the purpose in the
entrance hall. All books issued to them shall be shown to the receptionist at the
entrance before leaving.

Eating, sleeping, smoking and audible conversation within the library premises shall
be prohibited.
BORROWING AND RENEWAL

Members of the library shall be entitled to borrow books from the library except
those books, which are especially mentioned in rule below.

Borrowers card shall be issued to every member, on presentation of which, book will
be issued to him from the library. This card shall not be transferable and should be
surrendered at the time of obtaining a clearance certificate. A sum of Rs.50/- shall
be charged for the loss of card.

Books once borrowed may be reissued with the permission of the Librarian provided
they are not required by another member.

In case a book is urgently required, the Librarian may recall it at a short notice
any time and such a book shall be returned immediately by the borrowers.

Books and other material of the following description shall not be issued to
borrowers but may be consulted in the library during working hours with the
permission of the Librarian.
- Reference books like Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Almanacs, reports,
dissertations (theses) and other reference material.
- Reserved books.
- Books banned by Central or Provincial Government
- Rare books and protected documents
- Microfilms, Autographs, tape-records
- Periodicals
- Any other material at the discretion of the Librarian

If any book is damaged or mutilated during the period of load or is lost by the
borrower, he shall replace it or pay the cost as assessed by the Librarian under the
guide lines mentioned below.
- In case of loss of books and journals, the payment will be charged at double
of the cost (assuming current conversion rate) of the items.
- In case of donated material, thesis, reports, etc., the Librarian will
assess the cost/value of the material.
- However, preference will be given to replace the material.

Books borrowed from the library are not-transferable and shall be returned to the
library on or before the last dated stamped o the date-label. A fine of Rs.1/- per
book per day will be charged up to two weeks. From the third week, a fine of Rs.5/-
will be charged from the borrower.
DAMAGED/LOST MATERIAL

Mutilation and defacement of library materials is an offense which
shall invoke action and penalty under the prescribed Library Rules. The memberss are
required to carefully use the borrowed library materials.

The Members must immediately inform the library if the material
held by them is lost or damaged accidentally or otherwise.
- Library borrowers who lose or damage, intentionally or accidentally, library
material is required to pay repair or replacement costs OR may
choose/elect to replace/purchase the lost or damaged material with an acceptable
copy, if approved by the Librarian.

The Borrowers will be responsible for replacing the lost/damaged
material by purchasing it themselves.

Borrowers are subject to replacement or damage charges when:
- Library materials will be declared lost by circulation staff members based
on the specific material’s loan period, or if the borrower declares the
library material lost before that time.
- Library material is returned in irreparably damaged condition.

The member who have lost or damaged the borrowed material shall
not be allowed to borrow any library material until the lost material is recovered.
- If an item is replaced with an approved copy the patron is still responsible for
processing fee and fine charges.
- Lost items, that are replaced remain the property of the LIBRARY
and must be returned if found.
DIGITAL LIBRARY RESOURCES
- Controlled access to a large collection of full text E-books, including textbooks
and E-articles, is provided through the QAU E-library, accessible through the
library web portal, with direct access only to bibliographic information. Full text
is provided on request only subject to copyright.
- On-Campus access to the digital/e-resources, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
is provided to all the library members. The faculty and
research students will however be entitled to apply for Off-Campus
access to the digital resources.
INFORMATION DESK AND CIRCULATION DESK
Information desks and circulation desks may be consulted while using the library
services.
THE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Clearance Certificates shall be issued to the members on their request
only after they have cleared all library dues and have returned all the borrowed books
and other like material to the library.
